Aaand, today was the grand opening of our Pleasant Hill location! Not anything to celebrate really, but it was a nice change to teach in a new space.

Everyone that attended today picked up the basics pretty quickly, and some have already started on the magic ring, which is no easy feat.

Due to the heat today, we had to move to a new location, but that seemed to fare better with our students. Several of our students had previous experience crocheting, so they were able to make so super cute plushies! Others had never crocheted before, but that's totally okay; we have lots of experience teaching a diverse crowd of students.

Another highlight from today was that a whole family got involved in crochet! It's so exciting for us to see our joy of crocheting "infecting" other people :)

There's something so heartwarming about seeing families learning to crochet together. Although we've had multiple occasions of siblings coming together, we've never had a parent and their child. Both mother and daughter picked up the basics extremely quickly, but that was largely due to their prior knowledge of crochet. Not to mention, we could see the similarities between the two in how they hold their hooks, how they learn, etc. Who knew crocheting could be such an exciting family event!

Due to the smaller group today, we were able to spend plenty of time with each person and show them the specifics. Many questions were asked, but that's the best way to learn! It also gave us something to do so we weren't just walking around the entire time.

Furthermore, this class was the day we introduced our Easter fundraiser to the world! We sold quite a few big toys to our students, and they all looked quite happy. Mission accomplished!

We were able to work with each person individually and show them what they were doing wrong and what they were doing right!

Although our crochet classes were originally targeted towards kids, more than half of the class today were adults! It was pleasing to see the diverse group socializing and getting to know each other, all while learning how to crochet! Everyone, kids, adults, and teenagers alike, were able to pick up the basics of crochet and promised to keep working on it.

Because of this fairly large group, we had to change our set up quite a bit to accommodate everyone.

Different skill levels, but all were able to achieve great results!

An entirely new group of people showed up! Skill levels varied quite a bit (half of them had already crocheted before and knew the basics), but everyone was still able to learn new things and embark on the journey of creating new projects.

First class of the new year! It was refreshing to talk with our students about their breaks and to teach them crochet at the same time.

Sitting together & socializing about life :)

Learning a magic ring is tricky, but our amazing students were able to pick it up very quickly!

This was our first ever Crochet Basics Class for Children! It was a joy to meet all the children (and one adult) who showed up to our event. Although it took a lot of setting up, planning, and cleaning up, it was well worth it. 8 people came and sat down at our table while some parents stayed at watched.

We started with the very basics (hence the name). Slip knot, chain, single crochet. That's it. Simple, right? Well, not so much for 10-year-olds. I'll admit, crocheting is hard. It takes a lot of practice and getting the hand coordination into your body. However, they all did a great job picking up the basic technique. Of course, there is still room for improvement, but not bad for 2 hours!

We never asked for donations (directly to their faces), but we still ended up with $72 of donations. Now, some of it was from selling pre-made amigurumi (technical term for crocheted/knitted plushies), but a lot was from people being thoughtful.
